Serina Gaston, MEd, CHES, Executive Director
Serina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from West Chester University. In 2007, she completed her Master of Education with a concentration in Health from Pennsylvania State University and attained her certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist (C.H.E.S.) in October 2008. In 2017 she earned a Professional Human Resource Management certificate from Villanova University.
Excited to be PA NEN's new Executive Director, Serina is looking forward to working with the Board, NEN membership, PA NEN staff, state and local officials and others to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach. Serina has spent 19 years working in public health developing, implementing, and coordinating programs and initiatives relating to chronic disease prevention and management with community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools, and federally qualified health centers all across Pennsylvania. Throughout her career, Serina has facilitated improvement of operations and policy, systems and environmental changes through acknowledging and reducing barriers, capitalizing on strengths, adapting to change, and enriching collaborations.
Amanda Frankeny, RDN, LDN, Community Nutrition Program Manager
Amanda holds a B.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Messiah College, and attained her Registered Dietitian credentials through Penn State University. Beginning her career, she co-authored nutrition entries for the Food Network’s Healthy Eats and Be Well Philly blogs, developed online nutrition education for an employee wellness portal, and taught for various audiences from urban youth programs to undergraduates at Messiah College.
Pleased to be PA NEN’s Community Nutritionist, Amanda is the liaison for the Social Marketing Committee; works to expand the "Eat Together PA" social marketing campaign and website; writes the PA NEN's monthly E-newsletter, the "Nutrition News Nibbles"; collaborates with statewide partners to create and distribute PA NEN recipe booklets and other nutrition materials; and updates members regarding food policy and nutrition research across the state!
Michelle Kreiger, Program Assistant
Michelle has over 10 years experience working in an administrative capacity within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As an Administrative Assistant with the Republican Senate Majority Leader’s office and the Joint State Government Commission, she has handled a wide variety of assignments.
At PA NEN, Michelle has taken on the tasks of the Program Assistant position expanding her knowledge of the SNAP-Ed program while enhancing her administrative skills. She continues to work hand in hand with the staff of PA NEN to support PA NEN’s mission.
